Poetry Research and Analysis Essay Persuasive Wouldn’t it be great if everything was just black and white, unfortunately that’s not always the case? To me, the answer to the question regarding song lyrics being poetry is more complicated than yes or no. I think it falls in the gray area in the middle. In respect to that, I will discuss the fact that poetry and songs can be different in structure yet very similar in meaning; that without the voice implemented in the music, songs loose poetic and emotional value; and that the amount of literary merit does not define something as poetry and something that is not. Literary devices do not define something as poetry or not. Analysis Despite the similarities, and plethora of areas to compare these two a distinction should be made. While both are intertwined with the usage of literary devices they should not be compared. With that being said, the artist who I believe most successfully infuses his lyrics with poetic strokes is Logic. Therefore, the rest of this essay will be devoted to analyzing and celebrating Logic’s two pieces, â€Å"Black Spiderman and Flexicution† Logic or Robert Bryson Hall came from a broken home where he didn’t always have someone to look up to. However through music he found a man he could idolize. â€Å"Robert Bryson Hall also refers to himself as Young Sinatra , as Frank Sinatra s work has had a huge impression on him† (â€Å"Logic’s Biography† 1). Logic, like Sinatra, started his music career at a young age. Unlike his idol though Logic’s childhood was very rough â€Å"as both his parents were alcoholic and addicted to drugs† (à ¢â‚¬Å"Logic’s Biography† 1). Logic’s troubled childhood took place in a smaller town in Maryland just north of Washington D.C.
